ASL Dictionary

For those who are interested in purchasing an ASL (American Sign Language) dictionary for their own personal use or to donate to their local library, I highly recommend this book.

The Gallaudet Dictionary of American Sign Language

It also comes with a DVD that you can use to watch and learn because ASL is truly a 3-dimensional language which can be difficult to learn correctly from a book.

Be aware that ASL is continously evolving which makes it difficult for the average publisher to keep up.  Many books such as the Random House Webster’s American Sign Language Dictionary or The Joy of Signing: The Illustrated Guide for Mastering Sign Language and the Manual Alphabet are often reprinted every couple years and not always up to date on the most current signs.

By selecting The Gallaudet Dictionary of American Sign Language as your reference book on ASL, you will be encouraging the world leading experts on ASL to continue to keep future editions up to date.
