Our Popularity is Stuck!

TheLocoMono and I have noticed our Site Box’s popularity seemed to be in a stuck mode for the past few weeks despite the fact we had a few popular articles that should be rising to the top.  The Carnival of Twenty Something Finances was published a month ago.  That’s how we knew the jig was up.

After some research, we discovered it had to do with our WP-Super Cache plugin.  According to Alex King’s website (the creator of the Popularity Contest plugin, this is a known incompatibility.  I should have known this since I read the entire page a while ago but somehow forgot it.  After reading the comments on the WP-Magazine demo site, it turned out there was a comment about this issue.

I apologize if you have been looking for the most popular posts lately.  I just disabled the WP-Super Cache plugin for now.  I will have to set aside some time to research this issue to see if there is a workaround.  I am not the most brilliant coder on this side of Oz but I am sure someone out there beside Alex King (an excellent programmer but a busy man) can come up with something to help resolve this.

If you are a blogger, be aware that the latest version of WordPress now includes WP Cache by default.  I do not know how to disable this other than through the WP-Super Cache which includes an option to deativate both WP Cache and WP SuperCache.  So many things to learn about WordPress, so little time to know it all.  Reach out into the community and share the word.
