SEO Improvements by Young Entrepreneur

I was thrilled to see that Young Entrepreneur offered some SEO advice for TheLocoMono Website and its’ sub-domain today in this post. He rattled off great feedback right off the back which made me laugh because every single one of them is true. I still have a ways to learn about Search Engine Optimization which is a crucial element to any website’s success.

Pick Better Keywords

I recently discovered the value of keywords but am not quite sure how to incorporate them into the blog.

I like your category idea but you should pick keywords that you have a change of ranking for. As an example, look at your Just Business section. Are people really searching for “Just Business”? Use keywords that are related to the topics you are writing about but will also drive targeted traffic for you because you can get on page 1 in Google for them

Good point. How often are you going to type Just Business in your favorite search engine. This deserve some investigation and naming changes. Any suggestions would be welcomed. The goal for my business sub-domain is to explore the relationship between money and business so I can better understand how to apply it to my life whether as a business owner, an employee, or an investor.

Use My Pictures For SEO

Really? I never realized that.

Your images can not only help you rank for select keywords, they can also drive some serious traffic to your site through the Google image search. Your logo is called TLMlogo.gif and your alt tag is “Logo”. Change your pictures around so that the file name and, at the very least, alt tags are helping you with your SEO efforts.

I am going to work on that this weekend. Obviously, by renaming it to TheLocoMono which is literally the number one result in Google for TheLocoMono would just solidify my spot. I will have to figure out this “alt” thing. I know it is there but I have no clue. Feedback or links to your articles on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

Increase My Keyword Density

If you don’t use your keywords on your page in multiple locations it will be hard to get Google to pay attention. Look at your Just Personal Finance Page. You have the key phrase Personal Finance in your title tag, in your URL, and your H1 tag. Then you don’t use Personal Finance anywhere else on the page. You need to make sure that your posts mention the keywords you are trying to rank for. If your posts aren’t related to personal finance then consider changing the topic name to something that you are likely to write about in your posts (and a key phrase that is not as competitive as Personal Finance).

I don’t know how I could have missed something so obvious. That is going to take some serious thinking. If you hear monkeys hooting, that’s my brain hurting. Feel free to leave any comments to help improve my SEO skills. There is so much more to blogging than most of us realize and every little bit goes a long ways.

  1. Wonderful ideas! Your suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks for sharing!

  2. These are all good ideas to implement to help the optimization of the blog. The one major change that we did was to optimize the img alt tags. Immediately we started seeing visitors to the site through hittail that were searching google image search.
